Near Solo lays the small village of Mancasan. It has been known for a long time as the home industry of guitars, violins and ukuleles. If you enter Mancasan you’ll be able to meet almost 135 families at work producing guitars surrounded by the sounds of sawing and sanding machines. Not one family makes a complete guitar. Everybody has its own “task”. Some make the body, some make the bridge and others assemble them. The neighbors are sanding them while next door some are busy spraying/painting them. At last another family will attach the strings etc. The guitars are mostly sold to the local Indonesian market/shops and vary in price from Rp. 100.000,- to Rp. 800.000,-
