Bali Strait separates Java and Bali while connecting the Indian Ocean and the Bali Sea. At its narrowest it is 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi) wide. Crossing the Bali Strait can be done by ferry. Every 15 minutes a ferry leaves to the other side of the Bali Strait. It takes about 30 minutes to cross the strait but normally including getting on/off the ferry it will take you about 1,5 to 2 hours. On Bali the departure/arrival place is Gilimanuk, on Java it is Ketapang. The costs are about Rp. 6.500,- per person without a vehicle. For a sedan/mpv car including the passengers it is Rp. 148.000,-.
